Who to Watch – World Jnr Champs

23 August 2017

Shikira and Lydia
Funkita besties Shikira and Lydia are set to take over Junior Worlds!

Years of hard work has lead 10 Funkita F-Teamers across the globe to compete at the 2017 FINA World Junior Championships from August 23 - 28 in Indianapolis, USA to race against the best age group swimmers in the world.

Representing Australia are Funkita F-Teamers, squad mates and best friends Shikira Matheson and Lydia Murray who will not only be cheering each other on in their respected events - with Shikira racing in the 200m and 400m individual medley events - but the pair will be racing against each other in the 200m butterfly!

 Sarah Beale
Rising star Sarah Beale brightens up pool deck in her Funkitas.

Freestyle queen, Eliza King, will be competing in 4 events over the course of the competition, including the 100m freestyle. Up-and-coming star Sarah Beale will be stepping up to race the 100m and 200m breaststroke as well as the 200m medley and 4x100m medley relay. Rounding out the Aussie team, Kirrily Siebenhausen will be racing in the 200m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay.

 Emily Large
UK F-Teamers Emily Large and Lexie Waller get prepared for World Juniors.

After incredible efforts and several podium finishes at the 2017 British Summer Championships, there is no rest for UK F-Teamers Emily Large and Amy Bell - heading straight to Indianapolis for the Junior Champs where they hope to medal.

Having recently represented Great Britain in the Bahamas at the Youth Commonwealth Games, Ciara Schlosshan is getting set to take on the world stage again in the 200m and 400m individual medley alongside fellow UK F-Teamer Lexie Waller who will be competing in the 200m backstroke.

South African F-Teamer Kiara Noades will be getting amongst the action at the World Junior Champs over the weeklong event. Kiara's events have not been finalised yet, but she is hoping to represent South Africa in both backstroke and freestyle events.
