Funkettes shine at Short Course!

F-teamer Blair Evans talks tactics with Tommy Sucipto whether to do some dive starts or hit the showers.

There were plenty of F-Teamers competing at Aussie Short Course Champs in Adelaide, 22 in total. All of them did an amazing job but here's a quick shout out to some that had fantastic performance and results.

Blair Evans certainly brought her A-game to short course champs. She swam incredibly in both medley events, winning gold in the 400 in a time of 4.29.20 and picked up bronze in the 200, equalling her finish from last years champs. Tianni Gillmour finished just behind Evans in the 400 to come 4th place. She also competed in the 100 butterfly where she finished 8th, and a very close 4th in the 200 in a new best time of 2.09.30!

Carla
Carla Buchanan bagged herself a bronze medal.

Carla Buchanan bagged herself a bronze medal over the three-day meet. It came from the 100-metre individual medley. After just missing out on the podium success last year it's great to see Carla in and amongst the medals! Carla also competed in the 50 free, 100 free, 200m free and 50 butterfly and finished just short of the finals.

Sian Whitaker had a pretty awesome meet as she grabbed silver in the 200 backstroke. She was back in action in the 100 backstroke where she narrowly missed out on a medal, nevertheless she swam a best time of 58.16. She also finished a close 4th in the 100 individual medley and 6th in the 200 and 5th in the 50 backstroke.

Distance events aren't everyone's cup of tea but our F-Teamers seem to enjoy them. Mikayla Messer made her mark in the 800 freestyle. She finished 6th in a time of 8.30.2. She also finished 8th in the shorter 400. Emily White also swam the 800 where she placed 13th, and also 15th in the 400 freestyle. Her best swim however came from the women's 400 individual medley, where she finished 8th, four years younger than the rest of the field, with a 4.51.1. Sacha Downing also added the 1500 free to her schedule; she finished a close 4th in a time of 16.36.12. Keep an eye on those medals next year!

Breaststroker Aisling Scott threw a medley in the mix, and a good job too. She swam her way to silver in the women's 100 individual medley in a time of 1.00.89. She also finished 7th and 9th in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

Tori Wright competed in the women's 100 and 400 freestyle and finished 22nd and 17th.

Great work to our Funkita swimmers as they get prepped for a big season ahead culminating in Comm Games Trials.
