5 December 2017

The F-Team are getting set to dive into Euro Champs!

From December 13-17, the fastest swimmers in and off the walls will race at the iconic Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark for the European Short Course Swimming Championships. Funkita athletes Emily Large, Charlotte Atkinson, Jocelyn Ulyett, Kathleen Dawson and Kathryn Greenslade are all stepping up to represent Team GB with Mona McSharry (Ireland) and Diana Duraes (Portugal) also set to compete.

Having already qualified for the Commonwealth Games for 2018, fly queen Emily Large will step up to her first senior competition representing Great Britain. Juggling a packed schedule at the meet, Emily will dive into the 400m individual medley on day one, followed by the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly.

The World Championships in Hungary was Jocelyn Ulyett's first taste of international competition and for her the European's is another chance to extend her knowledge and test her skill.

"I learnt a lot in Hungary including how to handle myself in that kind of environment. I want to continue to move this forward, learn more and implement what I have already learnt."

Jocelyn will compete in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke as she also prepares for the Commonwealth Games in April 2018.

Loughborough teammate Charlotte Atkinson will go head to head with fellow F-Teamer Emily in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly, so look out for some fast swimming!

Kathleen Dawson, who has qualified as a member of Team Scotland for the Commonwealth Games, will step up to the blocks in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke.

"I'm really looking forward to Europeans, and I love racing short course. It will be a great opportunity to see where I am going into the long course season next year, and hopefully I'll pick up some medals!"

Charlotte shows off some medal bling and get gets rugged up for winter on pooldeck.

After a superb BUCS short course championships Kathryn Greenslade left the selectors with no choice but to add her to the team. It was only last week that Kathryn received confirmation she would be on the plane to Denmark.

"I was waiting to see if one of my University exams could be rescheduled as I had been picked last minute, so I wasn't even sure what was happening."

Greenslade will race the 200m backstroke, 200m freestyle and the 400m freestyle. After smashing the BUCS records in both the 200s we're excited to see how she goes!

Irish F-Teamer and World Junior Champion Mona McSharry will join the girls, swimming the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, as well as the 100m individual medley. Diana Duraes who swims for SLBenfica, will represent Portugal in the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle.
