Race Week Wrap Up

 Tough week of racing
It was a tough week of racing for the Funkita F-Team.

There's just one week until Christmas and after a mammoth week of racing the Funkita F-Team are adding some shiny new medals to their stockings this festive season.

The F-Team cleaned up at Queensland State Championships, with the girls from St Peters Western smashing it out in the pool. Young gun Shikira Matheson took out gold in the girls 15yrs 200m individual medley (2:17.42), as well as silver in both the 400m individual medley (4:51.05) and the 200m breaststroke (2:35.45). Shikira rounded out her medal count with a bronze in the girls 15yrs 100m freestyle (57.09) and 100m backstroke (1:05.35).

Squad mate Lydia Murray grabbed the gold in the girls 14yrs 200m butterfly with a time of 1:01.00.

Rising star Michaela Ryan dominated across the girls 15yrs age group, securing herself gold in the 100m backstroke (1:03.66), the 100m butterfly (1:00.51) and 100m freestyle (55.80). She also took home silver in the 200m individual medley (2:19.50) and 400m individual medley (4:51.91). Michaela's results in the pool crowned her the 15 year girls age champion, well done Michaela!

Sarah Beale smashed it at QLD Champs.

Funkita F-Teamer Sarah Beale added an incredible three gold medals to her growing collection at State Championships, gaining podium glory in the girls 17/18yrs 100m breaststroke (1:11.78), 200m breaststroke (2:30.31) and 200m individual medley (2:18.45). Fellow F-Teamer Sofia Cicchitti went head to head with Sarah in the 200m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke, taking home a silver and bronze.

Golden girl and Funkita model Sian Whittaker dominated in the women's 200m backstroke, nabbing the gold ahead of Olympian Emily Seebohm with a time of 2:10.35. Sian also grabbed a bronze in the women's 100m backstroke (1:01.04). Fellow Funkita model Carla Buchanan just narrowly missed out on a podium finish, coming in 4th in both the women's 200m freestyle and 50m freestyle.

Golden Girl Sian proved she is a true mermaid at the Champs.

Lucky Patterson snatched a gold in the women's 200m MC individual medley as well as bringing home a silver in the women's 100m MC freestyle.

In the south east of Australia, the Victorian Age Championships were in full swing as the F-Team continued to dominate the podium. Youth Commonwealth Games swimmer Sophie Caldwell had a busy schedule at Age Champs, but didn't let that stop her from gaining race day glory. Sophie took out an incredible four gold medals in the girls 17/18yrs 100m butterfly (1:03.16), 200m butterfly (2:19.89), 400m freestyle (4:23.67) and 800m freestyle (9:04.31). She also added another four silver and one bronze medal to her tally. Amazing effort Sophie!

Keilani Trewavis stepped up to the block across a number of events in the girls 16yrs age group, securing herself gold in the 100m breaststroke (1:15.03), 200m breaststroke (2:38.73) and 400m individual medley (4:57.76). Keilani also took home two silver medals and a bronze.

New F-Teamer on the block Lulu Macleod dove into the girls 13yrs 200m individual medley, taking out the silver and bronze in the 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke.
