F-Team set to fly at Comm Games Trials!

Our Funkita F-Teamers are warmed up and ready to shine at the Commonwealth Games Trials 2018

From February 28 - March 3, the excitement of Australian Swimming Trials will hit the Gold Coast, with Australia's best swimmers aiming to secure their place on the Australian Commonwealth Games Team and we have plenty of Funkita F-Teamers set to light up the lane! Here's a quick summary of who to watch and when!

WA's Holly Barratt is ranked second fastest just behind Olympian Emily Seebohm in the 100m Backstroke and Olympian Cate Campbell in the 50m Butterfly. Holly will also compete in the 50m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly! Also from Western Australia, Olympian and Funkita star Blair Evans is lining up in the 200m IM and is ranked fastest in the 400m IM with a time of 4:39.76.

Nunawading swimmer Sophie Caldwell will be the most active F-Teamer at the event qualifying for a staggering 7 events! She will cover nearly every discipline and distance competing in 200m, 400m and 800m Freestyle, 100m and 200m Backstroke, 200m and 400 IM! Fellow Victorian F-Teamers include World Uni Games champ Sian Whittaker who is competing in the 200m Freestyle, 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke, Keilani Trewavis in the 200m Breaststroke, 200m Butterfly, 400m Freestyle and 400m IM and Emma Malcolm in the 50m and 100m Butterfly, and 50m and 100m Freestyle.

Queensland F-Teamers are competing in almost every single race! Carla Buchanan is ready to race at her best after injury setbacks in the 50m, 100m and 200m Freestyle as well as the 200m IM. Club mate and World Junior Champs swimmer Sarah Beale is racing the 100m and 200m Breaststroke, and 200m and 400m IM. Newmarket Racers swimmer Sofia Cicchitti is racing the 100m and 200m Breaststroke with Tianni Gilmour stepping up in the 200m Butterfly and 200m and 400m IM. Bond swimmer Antonia Hurd will be racing her hardest in the 200m Breaststroke and Rackley and World Junior Champs swimmer Eliza King has the 50m, 100m and 200m Freestyle. Fellow 2017 World Junior Champ teammates Shikira Matheson (200m IM) and Lydia Murray (100m and 200m Butterfly) plus St Peters Western teammate, Michaela Ryan (100m Butterfly) will be racing against the best in Australia to cement themselves as real contenders in the open competition. World Junior Champs swimmer and huge talent Kirrily Siebenhausen from Rackley has a full program with the 50m, 100m and 200m Freestyle, plus the 50m and 100m Backstroke. Distance queen Mikayla Messer will churn through the laps in the 200m, 400m and 800m Freestyle), and Pelican Water swimmer and Funkita model Madi Thompson will race the 50m, 100m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle. After her recent gold medal haul at Queensland State Sprint Champs Abby Schoorl is set for some fast times in the 50m, 100m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly. Law grad and Aussie team veteran Aisling Scott is ready to show the young ones up with the 100m, 200m Breaststroke, 200m IM and 50m Backstroke.

NSW and SOPAC swimmer Chrissy Licciardi is heading north and ready to swim fast in the fly-fecta with the 50m, 100m and 200m Butterfly. Hobart Aquatic's Stefanie McCarthy will be soaking up the huge experience competing in amongst a scorching field in the 50m and 100m.

Para Athlete Lucky Patterson will be looking to cement her spot in 3 races, 50m Freestyle S8 which she has qualified fastest for with a time of 30.34, 100m Freestyle S9 and 100m Backstroke S9.
