2021 Australian Open Diving Championships
Australia's best divers take to the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre to book their spot for Tokyo.

The 2021 Australian Open Diving Championships, incorporating National Trials, kicks off today at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre until June 11. With Open Championships cancelled in 2020 and 5 years since the last Nomination Trials, all eyes will be on our six F-Teamers and the rest of the Funkita-sponsored Diving Australia divers as they battle it out for a spot on the Australian team in Tokyo.

Melissa Wu

An Olympic Medal, three FINA World Championships Medals, five FINA Diving World Cup Medals, four Commonwealth Games Medals, twenty FINA Diving World Series Medals, thirty FINA Diving Grand Prix Medals. However, Melissa is far more than her podium achievements. The platform diver has been a constant support for a generation of teammates and an inspiration for the next. Melissa's contribution to Australian diving in far more than can be measured in medals. Melissa will be competing at Trials in the 10m individual platform. If she qualifies for the team headed to Tokyo it will her 4th time diving for the Green and Gold at the Games. "It would be so special to make the team after a tough couple of years dealing with injury and the challenges that came with Covid. I've been training super hard and I?ve had good preparation leading into this competition."

Kate Rosman grew up diving in Adelaide with Diving South Australia. Since then Kate has found herself constantly on the domestic podium and a member of international teams. Now as one of Australia's premier springboard divers, the South Australian with coach Rick Schavone will look to make their mark on the history books at the 2021 Australian Open Championships.

Alysha Koloi quickly found her groove as a springboard diver after transition from gymnastics at the age of fourteen. The Queenslander represented Australia at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games held in Buenos Aires where she placed 15th in the Girls Springboard event. Alysha says her sporting hero is Brisbane training partner Maddison Keeney.

Nikita Hains

- Three Time FINA Diving Grand Prix Silver Medallist (2016, 2017, 2020)
- FISU Universiade Team Member (2019)

Nikita Hains is quickly making a name for herself in the diving world as both an individual and synchronised partner. The Western Australian secured one of Australia's Olympic Quota Positions after a dominant podium topping performance in the Women's Platform event at the 2019 Oceania Diving Championships held in Auckland. Nikita will look to return to the podium in the same event in Sydney.


Mackenzie Bowell

- 1st Place at the Australian World Cup Trials in 3m Synchro (2021)
- Diving Australia Junior A Female Diver of the Year (2020)
- Two times Gold and Three times Silver medalist at the Inaugural Pacific Junior Championships held in NZ, also named Junior A Diver of the meet (2019)

Mackenzie has transitioned from an accomplished junior diver onto the senior diving stage. Mackenzie has qualified in both the springboard events and also platform event for the upcoming National competition which also includes the 2021 Australian Olympic Trials. Mackenzie debuted as an Elite Junior Diver in 2016 and has been on the podium of every Elite Junior Nationals Championships since. Mackenzie has goals of representing Australia at the Commonwealth Games, Olympics and World Championships events. In 2019 Mackenzie was awarded the Olympic Change Maker award by the Australian Olympic Committee.
